THE CALL FOR PAPERS HAS NOW CLOSED

Occupational health and safety practitioners, academics and health professionals are invited to submit papers, workshop topis and presentations for the upcoming 17th annual Visions Conference 2009.  The conference will be held in Townsville from 21-23 October and is again expected to attract a range of quality speakers, guests and delegates from a diverse range of industries and backgrounds.

The Visions Organising Commitee seeks papers, workshops and presentation addressing contemporary occupational health and safety issues, and topics relevant to Australian workplaces.  Papers accepted will be used to further develop the conferences program and themes.  To submit expressions of interest, please refer to the following guidelines.

Program Format

Presentations should be limited to 30 minutes, plus 5 minutes for questions. Workshops will be limited to 60 minutes, inclusive of question time.

 

Submission of Papers/Showcase Presentations

Acceptance of papers, workshops topics and presentations will be based on the submission of an abstract, to be reviewed and accepted by the SIA Qld/NT Technical Committee.  Preference will be given to those papers which address the priority areas of the Safe Work Australia National OHS Strategy 2002-2012:

- reducing the impact of risks at work
- improving the capacity of business operators and workers to manage OHS effectively
- preventing occupational disease more effectively
- eliminating hazards at the design stage, and
- strengthening the capcity of government to influence OHS outcomes.

Papers and workshops dealing with the themes of Safety Leadership and Managing Young Workers will also be highly regarded.

Abstracts should be submitted in MS Word format (maximum 200 words) and be accompanied by a brief curriculum vitae of the presenter(s). Submission of abstracts is required by Friday 21 August 2009, with full paper by Friday 18 September 2009, by one of the following methods:

CPD Points

Presentations, workshops and attendance at the conference count towards Professional Development (CPD) points, which are a requirement for maintaining professional grdes of members of the SIA (CPMSIA, FSIA AND CFSA).
