New normal, new risks: How duty holders can manage the issues associated with hybrid working arrangements
COVID-19 has presented numerous challenges across the globe. In the industrial space, most workplaces have been forced to implement flexible working practices that are both productive and safe. Although this global pandemic has not been without its consequences, it has also inspired a different way of working. Where all work was previously conducted in the office, we are seeing many companies capitalise on the benefits that working from home has brought to many employees. A number of companies have announced that they intend to implement agile working as a permanent feature in their business model, offering employees the opportunity to work a few days from home and a few days from the office per week. While this hybrid working model has become the “new normal” for many businesses, we have yet to see the potential consequences that arise as a result in the industrial safety sphere. This presentation will outline those issues that employers should be aware of, and more importantly, what duty holders need to be doing in order to manage the associated risks.
