Biography

Peter is the Director, Regulatory Strategy and Board/ISSC Services at the Office of Industrial Relations, the WHS regulator in Queensland. He has a key focus on the implementation of regulatory strategies across OIR to ensure a modern and effective approach, including strong emphasis on risk-based and responsive regulation. Peter was deeply involved in preparing information to assist Mr Tim Lyons produce the Best Practice Review of Work Health and Safety Queensland. Since publication of the Final Report in July 2017, he has been coordinating implementation of the 58 recommendations and reporting on implementation progress to the Work Health and Safety Board and Minister for Industrial Relations. Peter has qualifications in occupational health and safety and environmental science, and is currently undertaking a PhD in regulatory studies at QUT. He has a long history of working with industry in Queensland using innovative programs to improve health, safety and environmental outcomes.
